You read the heading right.
Bad weather conditions in Grand Cayman brings alive a number of issues for the office staff, none of which are pleasant.
- Having to cancel tours that guests have been looking forward to for a long time - sometimes for over a year.
- This includes kids whose faces break your heart when you have to tell them they cannot visit the stingrays. Facing them makes Captain Mario grumpier than Poo-bear going without honey for a year.
- Our crew LOVE what they do. They love meeting the guests and sharing their local knowledge, they love the sea, they love nature and of course, they love the stingrays. Sure, one day without a tour can be treated as a rest, but two or more days and they act like ogres - and not the nice friendly ones like Shrek.
Safety comes before anything in our line of work. We know that our grouchy weather happens at this time of the year - the rain is of no concern (especially with our boat), but high winds can cause extremely choppy seas in the North Sound around the Sandbar and can be quite treacherous.
All the office staff can pray for is that they are able to re-schedule on-island guests to suit their vacation itineraries, whilst doing a number of sun dances at every possible moment in the hopes of getting the crew back out there to get their quota of stingray kisses, thus re-installing their sunny smiles and giving world peace a chance!
Happy week to all!
